Millions around the world commit adultery or fornication with no remorse. Even government officials, religious leaders, top businessmen, sports figures and entertainment icons acknowledge their adulterous lifestyles. When asked if they think adultery is ok, most people will admit that it is wrong. But many, though they say that adultery is wrong, condone it or practice it themselves! Some even practice “situation ethics”—they believe that it is OK to commit adultery under certain circumstances. Read the rest of this entry »

Building trust in a relationship is the greatest key to developing intimacy. Trust takes time to build, but can be torn down very quickly. What qualities help build trust in marriage? First and foremost is the quality of absolute faithfulness. Adultery will quickly devastate trust. Real faithfulness involves not only avoiding sexual contact with someone other than your mate, but also staying away from the “edges.” This means avoiding all forms of pornography, and not allowing yourself to develop other emotionally close relationships with members of the opposite sex. The hurt that can come to your mate because of carelessness in these areas can undermine trust—and will greatly damage your chance of ever achieving true intimacy. Read the rest of this entry »

Today’s teachers of the rapture weave numerous biblical references into their narratives, but John Darby and other early rapture advocates based their belief on two verses: 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17. In particular, they believed the words “shall be caught up” in verse 16 conveyed the idea that Christ would snatch the saints away. The world economy continues to dominate headlines and will continue to do so for months into the future. Why is the world experiencing this upheaval? There are many fundamental causes for this crisis, but there is one prime reason that you will not hear in any other news report.
Most people do not understand the Bible lays out a financial blueprint for economic stability. You can read about it in Leviticus 25. It is called the law of the Jubilee. Essentially, it is a 50-year cycle of land and debt management, which covers virtually all aspects of an economy. God laid down the law as part of ancient Israel’s constitution. It sets forth a balanced and equitable system that, when followed, could create wealth, social equity and strong families. Many of the social ills found among modern nations could be alleviated through this system revealed by God in the Bible.
The problem is that no nation has ever followed the law of the Jubilee. Not even ancient Israel, to whom it was given, practiced its principles for long. No country today would even dare implement its principles. It is a forgotten law.
