Homosexuality

We feel it necessary to clearly state our position in regards to marriage, the family, and human sexuality. These subjects are at the heart of many pressing issues facing society. That which for centuries has been considered to be basic Christian morality in the marriage setting is now increasingly called into question, not only in secular society but within Christian churches themselves.

The institutions of family and marriage are under attack and facing growing centrifugal forces that are tearing them apart. An increasing number of nations are now debating t he topic of “same-sex unions,” thus making it a world issue. The public discussion has engendered strong emotions. In light of these developments, the Theocratic Church is clearly stating its position.

As expressed in the Church’s Fundamental Statute, “marriage was divinely established in Eden and affirmed by Jesus to be the union between a man and a woman in loving companionship.” Though “sin has perverted God’s ideals for marriage and family,” “the family tie is the closest, the most tender and sacred of any human relationship,” and thus “families need to experience renewal and reformation in their relationships”

God instituted marriage, a covenant-based union of two genders physically, emotionally, and spiritually, spoken of in Scripture as ‘one flesh. The monogamous union in marriage of a man and a woman is the only morally appropriate locus of genital or related intimate sexual expression. Any lowering of this high view is to that extent a lowering of the heavenly ideal.

Homosexuality is a manifestation of the disorder and brokenness in human inclinations and relations caused by sin coming into the world. While everyone is subject to fallen human nature, we also believe that by God’s grace and through the encouragement of the community of faith, an individual may live in harmony with the principles of God’s Word.

We hold that all people, no matter what their sexual orientation, are children of God. We do not disregard singling out any group for disdain and disrespect, let alone abuse. We believes that the Bible takes any kind of sin at the same level, there being no such thing as a small or large sin, except those sins committed against the Holy Spirit. Homosexuality is consistently condemned as a sin by the Holy Scriptures, as seen in Romans. 1: 24 – 27. Jesus Christs ministry is based upon the acceptance of the convicted sinner (each of us being among those) as they are until redemption comes through the acceptance of His sacrifice in the Cross for the love of the sinner, although he hates the sin.

For this reason, the Lord approached a sinner woman and redeemed her from her sins and she was afterwards accepted as one of her closest disciples and friends. The Churchs mission is to continue the Ministry of Jesus and of His disciples, which is to bring light where there is darkness and life over death. Therefore, CWM loves and cares for homosexuals as it does to any other sinner (come as you are), offering a “place of refuge and renewal” for those who need, with the objective of work with them towards the real redemption, justification and transformation, in Jesus Christ Who gives the victory.

It is very clear that God’s Word does not agree to a homosexual lifestyle; neither does the Christian Church. The Theocratic Church believes that the biblical teaching is still valid today, because it is anchored in the very nature of humanity and God’s plan at creation for marriage. Therefore, as a matter of principle, principles being non-negotiable, homosexual couples shall not be married by the CWM with someone of the same sex, show off their sexual preferences in any circumstances, or occupy any official position in church until they repent and return to the original plan of the Creator which was, the man was created for the woman and vice-versa. Homosexuals are not permitted to be ordained until they bare fruits according to the Lords commandment.
