Money and Security

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Money is a necessary evil, or so the saying goes. It is certainly a necessary medium of exchange, but it doesn’t have to be evil. Whether money is a good or bad influence depends on our approach to it.

Jesus Christ wasn’t opposed to wealth or a high standard of living. He said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). The Bible is a guidebook toward the abundant life He wants us to enjoy. Money can be an integral part of the right kind of success.

On the other hand, the love of money has corrupted and twisted the lives of many people and is a root cause of much evil (1 Timothy 6:10). The Phillips Modern English translation captures the essence well and serves as a worthy commentary on this particular passage: “For loving money leads to all kinds of evil, and some men in the struggle to be rich have lost their faith and caused themselves untold agonies of mind.” (more…)

Reason why we observe the Sacred Festivals

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

There are days, like yesterday as we visited a couple of pastors related to us, that we have to give answers on our faith and on the reasons why we act different from other professed Christians. The questions that came yesterday was regarding to the observance of the Holy Feasts. Why do the Theocratic Church observe the “Jewish” Festivals?

According to the account of the New Testament, Jesus observed the Passover, the Feast of Tabernacles and the other festivals that God gave to Israel; we follow His example. The reason why we do so is because those sacred festivals still applicable for Christians today. (more…)

Time Managing & self-discipline

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Self management or self discipline is the key to making time your friend rather than your enemy. There are only 24 hours in your day, just the same as everybody else’s. So how do you end up frustrated, angry, behind in your work, and dead on your feet? Maybe because you don’t know how to use those 24 hours to your advantage.

If using your time wisely is a problem for you, you probably don’t have a very good idea of where it all goes. It just seems to go! A good place to start the task of managing your time, then, is to keep track of how you use your time. Get a Weekly schedule and faithfully keep track of how you use your waking hours for one week. The results will probably surprise you. (more…)

Healing Vs. Medicine

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

We see that many ideas that have circulated in the faith community have not always been consistent with the Scriptures, and seem to lack balance in the approach to the subject of healing, medicine and health. There is a need for better understanding of these subjects and related biblical principles. Faith is obviously a major factor (Matthew 9:29). Where we place our trust is also a factor (2 Chronicles 16:12). Getting advice from a doctor who is knowledgeable about the human body and disease is not the same as putting blind trust in any medical practitioner—the Bible does say that there is safety in a multitude of counsel (Proverbs 11:14; 15:22). The Grandeur of God’s Commandments (Part II)

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Most people have been taught that God’s law was done away—or else you simply have not realized that it is the only way of life that will bring mankind true happiness and joy. You have not realized that God’s law reveals the very nature and character of God Himself. And God commands us: “Be holy, for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16). Remember that the true Christians, the “little flock” of Jesus, are described as those “who keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Revelation 12:17). And God gives this description of the character of His saints: “Here is the patience of the saints: here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus” (Revelation 14:12). If you are to be counted among God’s true saints who will escape the seven last plagues, you will have to have this living faith—this obedient faith—in Almighty God through Jesus Christ living His life in you! You will have to understand and keep God’s spiritual law as revealed in the Ten Commandments! (more…)
